Last night, over an early dinner, I came across something familiar..my 2021 illustrations for Flying elephant at @parkhyattchenn , Chennai.
It brought back memories of an interesting project with its fair share of ups and downs.

It began with a call from an agency in Chennai. They were looking for something unique for Flying Elephant, a menu design that would feel personal.

We started the project just a month before the pandemic, which put everything on hold. For a while, it seemed like it might not move forward, but when Flying Elephant reopened, we resumed work and finished the project within a few months.

The concept: Illustrating signature dishes to look like pages from the head chef’s journal, offering a personal touch.

The treatment: Loose, organic, and rough lines to give the impression of a creative process in motion.

I haven’t worked on many menu designs since, but this one still stands out to me.
I’d be happy to take on something similar in the future.

House of Asuras | Work in Progress

It’s my way of adding a bit of humor to the everyday routine.

The Office Shenanigans
In 2021, I was asked to create an artwork for a corporate office in Chennai, a scene that would capture the everyday madness of a workplace. No filters, they said, just real life.

As I sat down to sketch, I found myself recalling my own days working at an architecture firm. It was my first job, and I was the youngest in the office, wide-eyed and eager. I saw, for the first time, how hierarchies quietly built themselves among the employees, how tea breaks mysteriously stretched longer and longer, and how some people seemed to master the art of looking busy while doing very little. It was an environment full of amusing little details…ones I’d been itching to illustrate for years.

This project gave me the perfect chance. The illustration brought all these characters to life: the group extending their tea breaks a little too long, the team lead who micromanages every move, and the employees who spend most of the day watching the clock, waiting for 6 p.m. so they can escape and return to do it all over again the next day. And, of course, the CEO—an optimistic soul who’s sold everyone on a dream but is still figuring how to make it real.

I couldn’t help but laugh at my own memories. There was a time when I realized I was spending more hours pretending to work than actually doing anything meaningful. Some people thrive in such a setup, but I quickly realized I needed more than just filling time. It was moments like that which made me want to use my time creatively, which, incidentally, led to illustrations like this one. Think about it, if I hadn’t left that place, you wouldn’t have seen this illustration.

Recently, at a stall where I was selling notebooks with this artwork, a businesswoman swept up the entire stock. She grinned as she handed over the payment and said, “I’m giving these to my employees for Diwali! they’ll love it, and maybe they’ll curse me a little less.” I couldn’t help but laugh, knowing that no matter the office, the same shenanigans are always at play.

The past few days have been an adventure as the team at Pets of Paradise worked on our new pitch deck. It’s not your typical investor presentation, it’s more like a picture book! We played to my strengths and gave it a major cosmetic upgrade.

The goal was simple, grab attention and keep investors engaged with something more exciting than the usual text-heavy slides.

Through the late-night sessions, Yoda and Leia were right there with me, holding down their posts as the heads of the feline department. By 2:30 a.m., they were barely awake but still insisted I add more cats to the deck.
No dog gets past the feline approval board!

This week, I checked off a box from my bucket list. After three years of making merch, I finally set up my first stall at BIC in Bangalore with @pilitaxiindia . Seeing all my illustrations spread out on a 6ft table felt like a dream. Over two days, I learned just how important a good display is and kept making little adjustments to help people browse more easily.

What really made it special were the kind souls who traveled all the way from far-off places like Whitefield and Yelahanka to visit. I’m truly grateful they made the journey ☀️

The best part was seeing people smile, appreciate my artwork, and pick up things they liked. It made me realize I should do this more often and put myself out there because I know I have so much more to offer.

Resharing one of my most detailed commissioned illustrations, which took over six months to complete.

This project came to life when an architect, working on the renovation of a printing press office, recommended me for something quite out of the box. The client had a big, empty white wall and wanted to transform it into something unique and meaningful.

While illustrations might not be the first thing that comes to mind for corporate spaces, I proposed a piece that would humorously showcase the entire printing press process.

Corporate offices often feel a little dull, no matter how many graphics or motivational quotes you plaster on the walls. I wanted to create something that sparked curiosity and gave the space some life and character. So, I spent the first month visiting the factory, observing the entire printing process up close—since photography was strictly limited due to the confidential nature of their work (they were printing exam papers that month!). After some negotiation, I was carefully monitored while capturing reference photos, promising to delete them after they’d served their purpose (which I did!).

What started as an empty wall turned into an artwork that brings humor and insight to the factory process, offering their clients and visitors a fun, detailed look behind the scenes.
It now serves as a conversation starter for those curious about the mechanics of the printing world.

Children’s Book | Behind the Scenes
Kumada’s uncle is busy buying groceries, while Kumada, ever curious, peeks into a basket of bright, chirping chicks.

I spent months illustrating every tiny detail, hoping to spark a child’s imagination and sharpen their eye for the world around them.

Some say it’s a lot to take in, but I believe it’s how children learn to notice the little things. It’s been a year, and I’m told families still find something new every time they read it. 😀
